The JEE Advanced goes Computer-based as well as a bit biased!

Yes, the 2017 JEE Advanced was quite a mess but does that justify the decision to make it completely computer based?

1. Biased towards Urban:
It clearly provides a minor edge to the students from well-to-do families who are very familiar with technology. Making it slightly tougher for the students coming from rural areas.

2. No Paper-Leaks:
It will completely eliminate the occurrence of a paper-leak. This will ensure only the deserving hard-working candidates take up seats in the prestigious institutes.

3. Coaching Factor:
This will induce a fear in student's mind. Its consequence being more students enrolling in coaching centres which can assist them in CBT (computer-based test). But these coaching centres charge hefty fees which again gives an advantage to the urban city students.

More change the IIT Council brings into the examination pattern, more the influence of the coaching classes.

4. Technical Difficulties:
A student may still face a wide range of technical problems during the test such as a bad mouse (I have seen quite a few in IITI), a laggy pc, powercut, a bad monitor, and so on. There are no such complications in the printed papers.

A bit of my personal experience:
I was irritated with the webcam light blinking every 5 minutes, during my BITSAT, which I believe hampered my performance that day.

5. Inexperienced Invigilators and Exam Conductors:
All the staff and the centres would be conducting the exam for the first time. There have been cases where the invigilators were not providing sufficient rough paper in the JEE Main.

Whatever opinion one may have, it has been finalized. It was bound to happen someday then why not now?
